The Young Leaders for Change Summit was held on 24th March 2017 at the US Consulate, Kolkata. The objective of the workshop was to train the selected project team (students and the teachers) on the topics of leadership, sustainability, environment and development, whereby the project team can gain confidence and knowledge to implement the envisaged environmental action projects in their schools/immediate neighborhood in next few months under the project. The idea was to infuse in students the ability to design innovate things out of basic available resources that may include waste items. There were 30 students and 15 teachers from 15 participating schools (both government and private medium). The event was organized by Centre for Environment Education (CEE) .
CEE is a national institution engaged in developing programmes and material to increase awareness about the environment and sustainable development. CEE was established in 1984 as a Centre of Excellence in Environmental Education, supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India. It is affiliated to the Nehru Foundation for Development. CEE’s primary objective is to improve public awareness and understanding of the environment with view to promoting the conservation and sustainable use of nature and natural resources, leading to a better environment and a better quality of life.
