Winter Camps 2018

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) winter camps for 5-18 year olds from January 2-5 at MakersLoft, Ballygunge center. Winter camps are a great way to expose your kids to new activities and gauge their interest, before you sign them up for a long-term courses. Don’t forget to ask our trainers for feedback on your child’s aptitude and skills on the last day of the camp.

5-7 years | Maximum 9 participants

In this workshop students will develop a qualitative understanding of select mechanical principles. They will build models of simple machines and be made to think about how they work. Students will build models like pinwheel, see saw, car launcher, ice hockey player, spinning top etc.

Students who are fascinated by Robotics and Mechanics will learn how robots work. Each student will create interactive robots using Lego WeDo Education kits. By the end of the course each student would have learned how to build & program a basic robot using sensors, motors, wheels, axles.

Make your own website

12-18 years | Maximum 10 participants
Choose either 11am-1pm or 2-4pm

Students will learn how to make a website using WordPress. They will learn how to make a home page and internal pages. How to create a menu and link it to page. How to add text, photos and videos on the site. How to link the website to their Facebook, Instagram or Youtube channel.

Students can purchase their own website domain name (eg, http://www.studentname.in) for Rs 500.

Students are required to bring a laptop for this course, with Arduino software installed, that can be downloaded from this link https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/Software

Arduino is an open-source electronics educational and development platform, and possibly one of the most popular in the world. Its is based on easy to use, flexible, hardware and software. Arduino is made for artists, designers, engineers, hobbyists and anyone with the slightest interest in programmable electronics. This is an introductory workshop, where students will learn how to sense the environment by reading data from various buttons, components and sensors. They will also learn how impact the  environment by controlling LEDs, motors, etc.

The camp will cover these topics:
Day 1: Introduction, Basic programming, LED phase 1
Day 2: LED phase 2, Debugging, Serial Communication
Day 3: Ultrasonic Sensor. Project: Intruder Alert.
Day 4: Project: Automatic Street Light
